Director's Philosophy

"A great school fits your family — not the other way around."

"Modern families come in every configuration," says Ruhi Khan, Director of Montessori Academy. "Single parents, dual-income households, freelancers, grandparents as caregivers — each family has a different rhythm. Montessori Academy has always believed that early childhood education should be accessible to all working families, not just those who can collect a child at 3 PM. That is why our three campuses open at 7 AM, close at 6 PM, and never close for summer."

Enrollment Schedules

Three ways to enroll — all available year-round.

Every schedule gives your child the full Montessori experience: daily language immersion, the three-hour work cycle, outdoor play, and hot lunch at Downey. The only difference is the number of days per week.

Any 3 Days/Week

Part-Week Enrollment

Any 3 days of your choice · 7 AM – 6 PM

  • Choose your 3 preferred days (Mon/Wed/Fri, Tue/Thu + one other, etc.)
  • Same full Montessori curriculum as 5-day enrollment on attending days
  • Ideal transition option for children new to Montessori or group settings
  • Can upgrade to full-time as child settles — no extra enrollment fee
Ideal for: Families easing a toddler into structured education, or parents with hybrid work-from-home schedules who need partial coverage.
Half-Day

Half-Day Enrollment

Morning session · 7 AM – 12:30 PM

  • Covers the core 3-hour work cycle and language immersion morning session
  • Includes morning snack and outdoor play
  • Pickup before the lunch and rest period
  • Option to stay for lunch at an additional per-day rate
Ideal for: Families with stay-at-home parents who want Montessori enrichment without full-day commitment, or children aged 2 who are building stamina for longer days.
Why It Matters

What other preschools won't tell you about schedule.

The structure of your child's schedule affects their development, your family's financial planning, and their long-term academic trajectory more than most parents realize.

01 Year-Round

No summer break means no summer slide.

Traditional preschools close for 10–12 weeks every summer. Research consistently documents the "summer slide" — children regress by an average of 2–3 months of academic progress during that break. Montessori Academy's prepared environment runs 52 weeks per year. There is no regression here.

52 weeks per year No summer regression Consistent routines No camp fees needed
Why consistency matters
02 Flexibility

Start part-time, scale to full-time — no penalty.

Many families begin with 3 days to ease their child in. When the child thrives — which they do — switching to full-time is a phone call, not a new enrollment process. We meet your family where you are.

03 Subsidies

MAOF & CalWORKs at Downey — full-time coverage.

The Downey campus accepts MAOF and CalWORKs subsidies for full-time enrollment. Eligible families receive premium Montessori education including language immersion, hot meals, and extended care — at little or no out-of-pocket cost.

"The 3-day option at West Adams was exactly what we needed while I was transitioning back to work. When my schedule changed, they moved us seamlessly to 5-day full time. The flexibility is real — not just a marketing promise."

"We started part-time at Culver City because we weren't sure if our daughter was ready for a full day. Within two weeks she was asking to stay longer. The transition to full-time was effortless and the staff couldn't have been more supportive."

FAQ

Your enrollment questions, answered.

Montessori Academy offers three flexible enrollment options: (1) Full-Time — 5 days per week, 7 AM to 6 PM; (2) Part-Week — any 3 days of your choosing per week; and (3) Half-Day — morning session. All options are available year-round at all three campuses.
Yes. Schedule changes are accommodated based on classroom availability. Many families start part-time to ease their child into the Montessori environment and transition to full-time within weeks. There is no penalty or additional enrollment fee for schedule changes.
All three campuses are open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. There is no early pickup penalty within these hours. The school operates year-round with no summer closure.
Yes. Montessori Academy operates year-round with no summer break. The continuity of the prepared environment throughout summer prevents the learning regression (summer slide) common in traditional preschools that close for 10–12 weeks.
Most toddlers starting at age 2–3 benefit from beginning with 3 days per week to allow gradual adjustment to the prepared environment. Many families transition to 5-day full-time within 4–8 weeks as their child settles in and thrives.
MAOF and CalWORKs subsidies at the Downey campus typically cover full-time enrollment. Families using vouchers should confirm their specific approved hours with their caseworker. Our Downey admin team will help coordinate the paperwork.
For enrolled full-time families, there are no extra overtime fees within the 7 AM–6 PM window. Half-day and part-week families picking up outside their scheduled window may incur a small extended care fee.
Schedule a tour at your preferred campus. After the tour you select your schedule, complete enrollment paperwork, and pay the $100 registration fee and $300 deposit. Most children start within the same week.
