Primary Program at Montessori Academy Downey

The Primary Program at Montessori Academy Downey is the only trilingual Montessori classroom in the Downey, Bellflower, and Norwalk area. Children ages 3 through 6 learn in a single mixed-age classroom where Spanish, French, and Tagalog are woven into every lesson, song, and conversation as part of the daily Montessori work cycle — not as a separate language class, and not at extra cost. No other preschool in the 90241 zip code offers this.

Campus Director Veronica Tapia leads a team of AMS and AMI certified teachers at 7515 Firestone Blvd. The Downey campus has a key structural advantage over most Westside Montessori programs: children who complete the Primary cycle at ages 3–6 can continue on the same campus through 3rd grade in the Montessori Academy private elementary program. Families in Bellflower, South Gate, Norwalk, and Pico Rivera choose this campus specifically because they do not want to move their child to a different school after Kindergarten.

For families who face cost barriers, the Downey campus accepts MAOF (Mexican American Opportunity Foundation), CCTR, CSPP, and CalWORKs subsidies. The majority of enrolled Downey families receive some form of tuition assistance. Eligibility is based on income and work or school enrollment — call (562) 291-2324 to check before your tour.
