The Toddler Program at Montessori Academy Downey is built around the Montessori understanding of the sensitive period — the window between ages 2 and 3 when a child's brain is most receptive to language, movement, and order. During the three-hour uninterrupted work cycle each morning, toddlers choose from a prepared environment of hands-on Montessori materials: practical life activities (pouring, spooning, folding), sensorial exploration (texture boards, sound cylinders, color tablets), and early language development through songs, picture classification, and conversation in Spanish, French, and Tagalog (trilingual).
Montessori Academy Downey is the only trilingual Montessori toddler program in the area — Spanish, French, and Tagalog are woven into every lesson and song at no extra cost.
The campus at 7515 Firestone Blvd, Downey CA 90241 serves families from South Gate, Bellflower, Norwalk, Pico Rivera, Paramount, and Lynwood. Campus Director Veronica Tapia leads a teaching team of AMS and AMI certified educators who understand that the Toddler stage is not pre-school — it is the foundation of everything that follows. What a child learns about independence, concentration, and care for the environment at age 2 shapes their entire academic trajectory.
