Primary Program — Montessori Academy West Adams
Ages 3–6 in a three-year mixed-age classroom. Daily Mandarin & Spanish immersion, 9,000 sq ft outdoor yard — the largest of all three campuses. Serving Mid City, Leimert Park, and Baldwin Hills families.
The Primary Program at Montessori Academy West Adams brings the full Montessori method to the heart of the historic West Adams neighborhood. Children ages 3 through 6 share a single mixed-age classroom for up to three years — a structure that makes West Adams one of the few genuine Montessori programs in South Los Angeles. This is not a preschool that borrows Montessori vocabulary; it is the method practiced as Maria Montessori designed it.
The campus at 4449 W. Adams Blvd sits at the center of a group of neighborhoods that have historically had limited access to high-quality early childhood education. Montessori Academy West Adams changes that. Campus Director Vanessa Verastegui leads a team of AMS and AMI certified teachers who bring daily Mandarin and Spanish instruction into every lesson, song, and routine without charging extra for language immersion.
What sets the West Adams campus apart physically is its outdoor space: approximately 9,000 sq ft of outdoor play and garden area — the largest yard of all three Montessori Academy campuses. For children in the Primary Program, that means morning outdoor work time, gardening as a practical life activity, and room to move in ways that a smaller urban campus cannot offer. The indoor prepared environment includes all five Montessori curriculum areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Cultural studies.
